Social media reports claim that the victim, an animal caretaker, was caught by the lioness and remained trapped for nearly 30 minutes. Despite the frightening situation, the man is said to have stayed calm throughout the incident until a rescue team reached the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
One X user who shared the video wrote, “Despite the terrifying ordeal, he stayed remarkably calm, even gently touching the lioness’s head until rescuers arrived. He survived but suffered serious injuries.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Another social media user connected the incident to the increasing human-lion conflict in Gujarat, stating that the growing lion population, inbreeding, and delayed implementation of wildlife conservation decisions have contributed to rising conflicts. The user also referred to the Supreme Court’s 2013 order directing the relocation of some Asiatic lions to Kuno, alleging that the order has not been implemented despite legal efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another user commented that the incident serves as a reminder that wild animals should always be respected. The post emphasized that although humans and Gir lions have coexisted for years, lions remain wild animals, and people should maintain a safe distance rather than treating them as domesticated animals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The viral incident comes amid a series of recent human-lion encounters in Gujarat. Last month, forest officials captured at least 30 lions from different forest ranges following multiple incidents involving increased interaction between lions and local residents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On June 16, a 25-year-old restaurant employee was killed in a lion attack in Gujarat’s Amreli district. According to reports, local residents later discovered parts of the victim’s body, including his severed head, near an approach road close to Kovaya village under the Rajula forest range.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Just a few days later, another tragic incident occurred when a five-year-old boy lost his life after being attacked by a lion while walking with his grandfather in Chaturi village of Khambha taluka. The incident sparked protests by local residents against the forest department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The recent attacks and subsequent capture of lions have raised concerns among wildlife experts regarding the state’s response to the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wildlife photographer and lion expert Bhushan Pandya told PTI that the large-scale capture operation is worrying because lions that have not been involved in any conflict are also being removed.
